Because it is a totally different design. There are still good forks available that work with a normal headset, such as the Odyssey Dirt.

I was shuttling down this trail in Laguna Beach, CA called Telonix. There are a few good hits in it and all. When it broke, I went flying to my head. My helmet took most of the impact and luckily I was fine, but obviously my bike had a few issues. I wasnt doing anything out of the ordinary either so thats why i think it was just a fluke or maybe it was all the hits I have done on it over the last year and a half that caused it to finally break. It got relplaced so Im happy.
